Það er verið að "gera upp árið" á Northloop og verið að tala um
skemmtilegustu atburði ársins. Hér er lýsing á nokkuð skemmtilegum
hring - set kortið með til að auðveldara sé að sjá staðsetningar:
"Sunday 28 October, last day of my last visit for the year, 10:13, overcast but dry, cold, pulling away from the cones, noticing the ring-taxi coming out ca 100m behind me, thinking “how long can I keep him behind me?”, and flooring it; 207bhp working overtime as I peak in the mirror thinking “if I’m first to Hohenrain I might be OK till Quiddelbacher Hohe” and see the 500bhp 2-tonner (?) thunder through Tiergarten behind me. T13, Hatzenbach, Hocheichen he’s not any closer, passing an E30 on the stretch before QH, need to check the mirrors, no, still not close, flat through Flugplatz, gentle brake to 190 through Schwedenkreutz, hard brake before Aremberg, mirror, he’s definitely closer, but not in overtaking position. Flat down through Fuchsrohre, up towards Adenauer Forst, catching a 911 on the exit, mirror, no sign of ring-taxi; he’s probably entertaining passengers and spectators going sideways…
Through Metzgesfeld, passing a Golf just before the sharp left-hander, smooth through Kallenhard and Spiegelkurve, catching a 911 going slow through Miss-Hit-Miss, nobody flagging, but two cars have stopped on the right shoulder at the exit, looks like everything is under control, passing the 911 before Wehrseifen, smooth through Breidscheid, bouncing and oversteering as usual out of Ex-Muhle, mirror, not there, wishing I had more power, catching 2 cars just before Bergwerk, hate doing that just there, but they see me and let me through nicely, deep breath, mirror, yes, he’s coming; passing me just before ET-1 (Nov’05) and I remember thinking “that’s rather untidy” as he bounced through the dip before the apex and disappeared up hill…
Now then, with this little traffic, I might just be able to avoid lifting through Mutkurve and Klostertal, so who knows what I’d find at Steilstrecke… an Alpha 75, bummer, the ring-taxi was already half way up the hill and when I jumped out of Karussell he was well on his way to Hohe Acht, the chase was maybe over? Rushing through Hedwigshohe I could see him going down Wippermann, coming over the right-hand ridge I could see he was just entering Eschbach – had I been closing on him? Brunnchen 1, no, he’s not playing, Brunnchen 2, still no sideways and I’m definitely catching up, passing a BMW through Eiskurve and he’s pulling away towards Pflanzgarten 1. We both pass a flatbed truck with a broken down car before PF 2 and he’s held up by a BMW through the twisty parts; I’m only a couple of car lengths behind when he gets through and in Schwalbenschwanz the lighter car has the advantage; I’m on his bumper and he indicates right – I’m through!
Diving into Kleines Karussell off line and being thrown out too early, now he’s on my bumper; I move way over to the right and indicate, but he follows right and stays behind; over to the left to attack Galgekopf, 3rd, flat, 6700, 4th, flat, he’s right on my tail, Dottinger Hohe opens up, I stay left, he comes right, we go through the Gantry at full tilt – me smiling my ears off; the best lap ever.
Looking right, I see the ring-taxi driver looking back and also smiling and giving me a nod as if to say “nice driving”; cool, the ring-taxi driver was Hans-Joachim Stuck – "Strietzel" the legend!

Inspecting the data-log later on, this was an 8:17 BTG lap; the ring-taxi BTG would have been ~8:10 given that I had ~100m head start on him.

Unfortunately, this also ended up being the day with my worst ever TF experience – a collision with a biker. Nobody got hurt, but still, a very sobering experience that I will never forget…"
