Hence the solution they are providing is in fact not a pure "DSC off" solution but instead a DSC "mostly-off" solution. BMW NA had stated in the past that the reason for the original plan to not allow DSC off was due to rear wheel hop under launching conditions and the potential for rear drivetrain/subframe damage. So it appears they are going to somehow monitor for that condition and dump the throttle on you if you put the car in such a state. This may be a real tricky car to launch hard now since you're going to have to balance the onset of wheel hop versus too much hop and DSC cutting out the throttle. I wonder if there are other "conditions" they are going to have it intervene also (i.e. at speeds higher than a launching condition)? They REALLY need to come clean on the whole potential envelope of control it still has so people know what to expect.
