I've got a question which might seem strange/stupid to some and perfectly normal to others (they've come to expect this from me, I guess). You're doing amazing work to restore a unique piece of motorsport- and auto history. How come you decided to go with a engine from a later model? I realize that the stock S14 (which, if I remember correctly, arrived without any extensive modifications in the Europameister) might not be as fun as a roaring 6-cyl hellbent on ravaging the roads, but to me it feels like the heart of the car and an integral part of its legacy.

Look at Mázi. Much like yourself, he's restoring an E30 M3. Unlike you, with no offense intended towards Mázi or his car, he's not restoring a unique model so going along with a different engine isn't that big of a deal. I've always felt that a car like this should be kept in its original state, especially when so much work is being put into making it look the part. It makes me wonder why one shouldn't go all the way.

Anyways, I'm sorry for my rant. The car isn't mine and neither is the project. It seems like I can find a bit of shade even on the sun. I think the most important part here is that you're actually doing this (and doing it well, at that) and not daydreaming about it. Everybody here wins, S14 or not!

/Flamesuit On, I guess. :alien:

Ertu þá að tala um body parta sem verið er að skipta um? Ég er að tala um original hluti sem komu á Europameister/M3, varðar mig ekkert hvort það sé notað eða nýtt! :)

Meinti eitthvað þannig

Plús að S54 M3 færi á meira en orginal held ég

I very much agree with you and my intentions is to be able to have the car original. Hence i will rebuild the original engine and keep it(will not sell it).
I was going to build a stronger engine but whatever you do to the S14 it can not be justified financially.
Therefore my plan is to keep the engine and do an S54 conversion in a way that i can always go back to the original.
To be honnest though the E30 M3 always needed more power.
And by doing it the way i am planning i will not have to modifie anything on the car as everything bolts on.
Dont get me wrong ...i love the S14 the way it is. But to get the extra 50-80 bhp from a rebuild it would cost more than doing an S54 conversion.
And in my eyes the S54 is the new S14 the way in performs and delivers.
I have looked deeply into this and i think this is the best solution. If we ever decide to sell the car we can have it with both options. Original engine or S54. So matching numbers are there.
All it will need will be a few hours to swap the engine-gearbox and the tacho. The rest will be original.
I hope this makes sense!
As far as originality goes the only thing that may not stay the same is the seats as i will either go for SRD or Performance BMW recaros.
