Thanks everyone!
But as this project is with my uncle and his sons most credit should go to him.
Also some of the parts on this list will have to be postponed or changed.
Most of them will stay though.
At the moment our focus is to get the car better than new bodywise and all the driveline! The rest will come but a litle slower than what we hoped!
I will post the exact list of what is ordered when we have been invoiced!

-BMW OEM Bearings or VAC High Performance Race Bearings

Zorba, I have the VAC High Performance Race Bearings and my Machine shop (perfectionists) did not have any problems with them, but recently I have heard some bad things about clearance with the VAC ones, and a guy I know who is building a S50B32 for Turbo (professional builder) decided to go with the OEM BMW. That corresponds with other stories I have read.

You only need high quality bearings if you plan on running incorrect clearance for the cylinder pressure you´ll be seeing.
i.e the oil film will NOT be sufficient. If you have the right amount of oil then your good.

Gunni, Jake (AU) just sent me an email regarding the VAC bearings, he was not impressed (rather pissed) so he is going for the Oem's. Im no expert so I dont know what the thing is but he was talking about clerance (or lack of it).

When he phoned me he had gotten some bearings from them to see what clearances he would get, as they don´t list any variations like BMW do. So your stuck with one bearing and need to adjust the crank to that. Which can be very costly.

BMW Bearings all the way.!!

I have to look into that but thanks for mentioning.
I have split the order from them in two stages and most engine stuff will come on the second order.
I decided its wiser to open up the engine first and see what is really needed before ordering.

As far as i know you are meant to measure clearances first then order due to wear.
I assume your friend used a used crank etc? If so then i would say it was his mistake not checking first assuming he did the rebuild himself.
But in any case if i buy them it will be with all internal parts measured and blueprinted so they should be ok.
At the moment doing a 2.5 conversion is not our priority since we want to get the body and drivetrain in better than new condition.
Also there will be an S54 conversion at some stage so even if the S14 engine is stock but rebuild like new we will be happy.

Small update btw:
We ordered new rear fenders and sideskirts from BMW and the sills and reinforcements are here with the new tank (see pic on the wall pic).
I am missing however one part that is no longer available from BMW. Part number: 41121943118 for the front reinforcement of Convertibles on the shock towers.
If anyone can help me find one it would be greatly appreciatted!
