Benz S600, óbreyttur f.utan tölvukubb og drag slikka. Tekur kvartmílu á undir 12 sek.... :P

Eigandinn hefur ekki gert annað en að láta endurforrita tölvuna í bílnum (tölvukubburinn) og sett undir hann spyrnu-dekk.

Bíllinn er auðvitað twin-turbo beint frá verksmiðjunum, hérna er dyno-graf þegar áður en tölvukubburinn fór í!!
Well, this explains quite a bit! On the dynojet dyno today, in 72 degree weather, my bone-stock S600 made:

481 RWHP @ 5300 RPM
601 RWTQ @ 3500 RPM

This scenario has already occurred on Tuesday:
I'm out driving the S600 on El Camino, and up ahead I spot a late-model Porsche 911 cabrio with two people in it. Those of you who remember my previous race story against a 911 (in my X5... I lost) know I have a special place in my heart for that car . As luck would have it, he gets caught at the stoplight a couple blocks later, and I pick up the empty lane to his left.

As I pull up, I see it's a 30ish guy driving with a woman in the passenger seat. Folks, it doesn't get any better than this I roll down my passenger window and ask "hey, is that thing fast?"

He responds "yeah, real fast". I say "show me"

The light turns green and I clobber him. In the S600 it's like taking candy from a baby; only the launch is tricky. The Porsche turns off into a parking lot before the next light. I think I saw the woman laughing as he did, but it might have been a trick of the lighting...

Did I mention how much I like this car?

Tölvukubbur hefur náttúrulega gífurleg áhrifa á túrbóbíla, það er hægt að pumpa upp hestöflin all nokkuð. Hversu lengi vélin endist er annað mál...

Að aka túrbó bíl undir engu boosti fer ekki illa með hana, þá er sama eyðsla og á venjulegri vél

It's just accelerating in a straight line. Not too hard on the car, especially with drag radials because they don't spin or wheelhop. I haven't had to replace a darn thing.

RENNtech advises me that AMG says the transmission is the weak link in the driveline. They've left an electronic torque limiter in place on the tranny, and I think it adjusted down the midrange boost slightly, because I haven't hit it since two days after I got the ECU back from them.
