We're becoming accustomed to BMW shocking us with the new styles, but now those crazy Bavarians have turned their attention to the past with their latest concept car.

Celebrating the firm's long association with the Mille Miglia endurance race, BMW's new Concept Coupe Mille Miglia draws heavily for inspiration on the 1930s 328 racers.

Underneath the Concept Coupe's flowing lines is the modified drivetrain of a Z4 M coupe, complete with 343bhp, 3.2-litre six-cylinder engine.

The bodywork is made from carbon fibre and there are no normal doors, which helps to reduce weight.

In place of doors, the entire roof section hinges up as a canopy to allow access to an interior that mixes stainless steel, untreated cowhides and Lycra to further reduce weight.

Other details that hark back to the original racers are a side exit exhaust and headlights that sit proud of the bodywork but incorporate the latest LED technology.

The Concept Coupe was unveiled at the start of the classic Mille Miglia race in Italy and is expected to make a surprise appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July.

sem "öðruvísi" og "útúr-kortinu" bíll.. eins og flestir concept bílar eru, finnst mér hann töff 8)

Allavega myndi ég nú halda að það myndu einhverjir hausar snúast ef ég væri akandi um á íslandi á þessum hehe :D

En svona þegar maður fer að spá betur í því, WHY? :) djöfull hljóta þeir að vera að MOKA inn peningum ef þeir geta hend hundruðum milljóna í eitthvað svona "djók" :) þetta er nátturulega bara eitthvað svona hobby hjá þeim hehe.. "hey, búum til eitthvað fyndið sem kostar skrilljónir" hehe

Mikið svakalega er ég sammála þér. Hvað eru þeir að spá ?

Allt í lagi ef þetta meikaði sense, þetta gerir það bara ekki fyrir mér, þó þetta sé concept.
