Hi, here are some pics of my 320is rebuild The 320is was produced in Regensburg 1987 - 1990 and was sold only on the Italian and Portuguese market. The engine is a 1990 cc version of the S14 engine. Gearbox (Getrag 260, with dogleg shift pattern) plus rear axle are shared with the M3E30. A total of 3746 cars were produced. The construction of the roll-cage was started in the autumn of 2004: The cage painted in black The car has just gotten the full cage approved by the Swedish car authorities (equivalent to the German TÜV) Ground Control kit with camber/caster adjustment, delrin wishbone bushings. The pict is showing the old break setup with Yellow Pagid RS-19 and Zimmermann cross drilled rotors. The rotors didn't last for long so they are now replaced by 4 pot Porsche calipers and Tarox rotors After registration of the cage the original seats where replaced with two Sparco Corsa's and two sets of Sabelt 3inch 6-point harness. Exhaust system from Köhler Racing, DTM style with 2x63mm (ID). The exhaust fitted. The tailpipes had to be cut off, and reshaped, since the M3E30 has the pipes straight while the 320is angled. The original Girling calipers were replaced by Porsche 4-pot calipers with Pagid RS 4-4 and Tarox 278x25mm rotors. I removed the dust shield and had it replaced with an stainless steel brake cooling shield. Willwood brake reduction valve. The steering-rack rubber guibo replaced by an alloy ditto The original steering rack (4.1 turns) was replaced by Zionvilles modified one from an M3E36 (2.7 turns) Last winter the engine was rebuilt with forged JE pistons (with Total-Seal gapless rings) increasing the compression from 10.8:1 to 11.5:1 (M3 195hp: 10.5:1, M3 EvoII 11:1). The cams was grinded to 292degrees (intake) and 288 (exhaust). The top + tb was ported, new valve steering in brass, mira-grinded valve seats, top and block decked, lash caps, the crank + flywheel polished and balanced, new oil pump, new bearings, new water hoses, etc, etc Adjustable cam gears The engine ready after four months of work... The engine in place. Time for the C/f plenum and Alpha-N from John/MAXX to be mounted! The Mototronic box attached to the Alpha-N The standard map loaded. Almost ready for mapping. Note the brake ducts in glassfibre. They are mounted where the fog-lights + original brake duct normally goes. I had a hard time relocating the brake fluid reservoir since the c/f plenum+cage+reloacted fuse box+sparco strut bar used up the existing space. This was the first attempt where I mounted the brake fluid reservoir to the firewall. This turned out to be a bad choice. I later moved it to a bracket made out of stainless steel attached to the old AFM mount. This is the place where most people with c/f boxes mount their p/s reservoir. This meant that I had to move the p/s reservoir even further forward, to just behind the headlights ;smilie[45] Entering the Karussell at Nürburgring last summer. |

Ég var bara að benda á að mér þætti vitleysa að taka svona bíl og breyta honum í trackbíl. Hluti af ástæðunni fyrir því er þessi mótor. Bara dýrt að fá einhver hestöfl útur þessu. |
