A relative newcomer on the tuning scene, the German company Nowack proves that there is still quite a bit of room for improvement in the BMW M5 engine bay. By modifying the intake and exhaust systems, which Nowack found to be leaving the M5 gasping for air, power rises over 100 horsepower with a similar increase in torque, resulting in a healthy 102 horsepower per litre. Each throttle body is gas-flowed and the butterflies are reshaped to minimise airflow intrusion, the cylinder heads are ported and polished, the race-style exhaust headers and catalysts are built in-house, and the camshafts are also replaced. While the 0-60 mph shows a definite improvement, it is at higher speeds that the IN500 reaches peak performance. 124 mph (199 km/h) arrives in just 14.6 seconds and by removing the speed limiter, terminal velocity jumps to just 2 mph shy of the 200 mph barrier or a whopping 317 km/h.

The clutch also receives an upgrade but still remains as docile as the standard unit at low speeds and around town. A modified ECU is also part of the package, allowing the IN500 to accelerate from 20 mph in 4th gear without protest from either the engine or drivetrain. Floor the throttle on a long stretch of road and the creamy smooth power delivery is almost enough to make you forget that you passed 60 mph faster than a Ferrari F355 and 124 mph 1.5 secods quicker than the 0-100 mph time of a Qvale Mangusta (just some interesting comparos for you). To keep this M5 planted, Nowack drops it by 35mm and adds uprated springs and anti-roll bars from Eibach, Sachs dampers and 19-inch BBS wheels covered in Yokohama rubber. The brakes receive 380mm rotors in front and 322mm units at the rear with road-race pads. The ride quality remains remarkably supple and comfortable, roll is reduced, turn-in and steering feel both enhanced and the brakes are completely fade-free. A 4-door supercar this certainly is.

Ég man að ég var að rífast einu sinni við gæja sem sagði að nýji M5 bíllinn fengi 70% auka power með kubb,

nowack er snilldar tjúning fyritæki sem starfar í þýskalandi (döh) og er að sérhæfa sig í m5 sem þeir kalla já n500, þeir bæta líka bremsur til muna og er nowack m5 með aðra styðstu bremuvegalengd í production car að ég held. allar frekari uppl. á www.m5-n500.de snilldar gaurar :!:

Naturally Aspirated. Það er bíll sem "andar eðlilega", þ.e. er ekki með turbo eða supercharger sem dælir inn lofti.
