"RUF offers new 997 clients 3 choices of state-of-tune: a reworked bi-turbo 3.8 litre engine of 530, 560 and 650 bhp with a maximum torque output of 750, 790 and 870 Nm (!!!). Clients can choose whether their car is fitted with rear of four-wheel drive. RUF calls their creation the RT 12. The tuned 997 was presented at the Essen Motorshow.
For the 560 bhp version, RUF regards this as the standard rebuild, a top speed of 350 km/h is attainable, the sprint from 0-100 takes 3.7 secs. Enough to quickly see off a Carrera GT which attains 330 km/h and sprints from 0-100 in 3.9 seconds. For the newly developed 650 bhp RUF Rt12, no performance figures are yet available.
At the front, 19 inch wheels are mounted, at the rear sit 20 inch examples. The chassis is lowered to be able to cope with speeds above 350 km/h. One option is a system where-by the ground clearence of the RUF can be raised by 5 cm. On request, the RUF Rt 12 is available with a rollcage, this can be covered in leather or alcantara."
