With nearly 3000 CFM of air being rammed in by the supercharger on overdrive, the fuel mixture is compressed into nearly- solid form before ignition. Cylinders run on the verge of hydraulic lock.

Dual magnetos apply 44 amps to each spark plug

Spark plug electrodes are totally consumed during a pass. After 1/2 way, the engine is dieseling from compression-plus the glow of exhaust valves at 1400 degrees F. The engine can only be shut down by cutting of it's fuel flow.

Dragsters twist the crank (torsionally) so far (20 degrees in the big end of the track) that sometimes cam lobes are ground offset from front to rear to re-phase the valve timing somewhere closer to synchronization with the pistons.

Top Fuel Engines ONLY turn 540 revolutions from light to light!

that the fuel-line pressure for NHRA Top Fuel dragsters and Funny Cars is between 400 and 500 psi

It takes 800bhp to turn the supercharger at full power it produces 45psi of boost

Top fuelers run approximately 7,414bhp / ton

The exhuast exits the headers at speeds over Mach 1, the exhaust actually provide downforce as well as forward THRUST

A top fuel car at full throttle can be heard from over 8 miles away measuring 150db

@MrGotsquashed I'm glad I was there to see the national record set even though 1000ft Top Fuel has gone as quick as 3.75. The engine of choice for Top Fuel and Funny Car for 40+years has been an all aluminum aftermarket Dodge 426 Hemi which is bored and stroked to 500 cubic inches.
