"I as Mert Dastan, or representative of da motorsport would like to express my thoughts and apologies about the last 5 years and about myself.
First of all I would like to APOLOGIZE from members, with whom I had negative relations, whom I replied in a rude manner, during the last 5 or 6 years.
Back in 2003, my E36 M3, which I believed to be 1000 hp, and which was not 1000 hp as I realize now, was charming me. I had discussions and no dyno proofs, just some videos.
I claimed 1000 hp, which I should not. And started to argue with others. The only nice parts were a GT42 and a Euro M3 engine, and all else was poorly desingned and fabricated. As of today, I would not even use that intake manifold as a box for storing screwdrivers.
It all started as a hobby, I was an ameteur, still I am, and people started to bring their bimmers to me, once they saw my E36 M3.
What did I do? I have accepted BMWs, more than I could do, more than I could finish, and many BMWs me and my team tuned, were less than average. Some were awful.
I was simply charmed or captivated by new projects and could not focus on all.
Good tuners such as AA or VF, do focus on one model and excell on it such as Active`s m3 supercharger systems. We did the wrong, and jumped on many bimmers at very same time.
Me and my team accepted many cars at the same time, and could not finish them in the form they should be.
This tragedy lasted till september, 2007.
Four months ago, I have decided to stop selling kits and stopped the commercial tuning. And I have decided to keep FI BMWs as a hobby just for myself and for only one close friend of mine.
I have realized that I am not a professional, me and my team are still ameteurs.
As an ameteur, the best thing would be to retreat and focus on my own M cars. Not to damage or ruin others beloved Ms.
After spending 9 years, with big mistakes, I have lost my health. It took time to recover and get healthy again. During the days of my illnesses, not just one, I had time to reevaluate myself, my policies. I have realized that I went into discussions with some people, such as Kenny, Cameron (highboosting) and some other members. With all my heart I would like to express my apologies to them and to all with whom I had bad relations.
I went back to my 55 years old family business, and will carry the tuning of BMWs for a hobby. To fill my leisure times. No money-commercial aims, no financial concerns. Just as a pure hobby, to be happy to see boost pressure gauge going down and wheels spinning. That is all I want.
During the 9 years of time, we did very bad bmws, poor design. Such as my own Pink (Fashion Red) E36 M3 which had awful intake and exhaust manifolds. Not efficient, simply very bad design and awful.
As of today, I have learnt a little bit about bmws and FI. If the total of things to learn about BMW& FI is 100, I only know 10 out of it as of today. Still many many things to learn.
good for me that I have a dyno dynamics, have the tools for tuning oem dme of E46 M3, E39 M5, a small but ameteur team of fabrication. During lunch, I go down to my dyno, change VANOS maps of E46 M3 and see if I gain or damage the valvetrain. Just as a hobby for myself.
From now on, me and my team will focus on my own E46 M3 Twin GT30.
I am installing a stand alone, and will also be able to control Vanos and overlap.
Recently, bought a E34 M5 3.8L and also a Garrett GT55. As I cant ruin others` Bimmers, I will focus on the M5 3.8L as well. These two projects are just for my own hobby, and pleasure. No commercial thoughts.
With these 2 bmws, I have no power claims. I have learnt my lesson. No war against another. No claim at all. Even the dyno dynamics results, and my driftbox data will come onto the forum, if allowed by you all, in such a soft manner, that it will contain technical information as much as possible. No comparison with others. Just a simple member`s vehicle.
I have been negative, hard, rude, and I annoyed some members. I would like to express my apologies, and hope them to ponder and forgive the bad attitude. With your permissions, I would like to chat and be helpful as much as I can here as Mert Dastan, not as DA.
Thank you for spending time and reading.
Kind regards,
Mert DASTAN"
